Oyama is a city located in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. As of 1 August 2020, the city had an estimated population of 167,647 in 70,928 households, and a population density of 980 persons per km². The total area of the city is 171.76 square kilometers.

Oyama Station

Oyama Station is a station of East Japan Railway Company (JR East) and Nippon Cargo Railway Company (JR Cargo). Access to Tochigi Prefecture and neighboring Ibaraki and Gunma prefectures is good, and Tokyo is even more convenient with the opening of the Tokyo-Ueno Line.

Suga Shrine

A peaceful forest in the center of Oyama City. Suga Shrine is also known as “Gion-san” or “Tenou-sama”. It was founded in April year 940 by Fujiwara Shusato, who welcomed the spirit of a deity from Yasaka Shrine in Kyoto and dedicated it to him. The three deities are Susanoo-no-Mikoto (god of sake), Okikino-no-Mikoto (god of the great nation), and Eodabetsun-no-mikoto (god of Hachiman).

Oyama Onsen Omoigawa

hot spring facility originally built to attract more visitors to Oyama Amusement Park. Currently, Oyama Amusement Park has been closed, but the Oyama Harvest Walk, which was built on the site, is adjacent to the Omoigawa Onsen, which is still in business!
